Potrero Canyon Anomalies

These two photos were submitted by Kathleen Tijou of Rochester, NY taken on Potrero Canyon Rd in Newbury Park, CA.

Your first reaction would be to say these photos are chemical stains from developing, but consider what Kathleen has to say about these two photos: "My daughter had a simple fixed focus 35mm camera that had a panoramic option to it. I had a more complex Nikon 35mm which enabled me to meter light level and adjust he F-stop accordingly. I checked the light meter on the camera, which indicated that a flash would not be needed. I told my daughter to grab her camera and take some pictures. I stopped the car and we took these shots from inside the car. NO flash was used whatsoever, and the pictures were taken within two minutes of each other with two separate cameras. The light band appeared in both, although it was not visible to the eye at the time that the pictures were taken. The pictures previous to these and the pictures after, in both cameras, did not contain the light band in them, and we were not aware of them until we received the pictures back from being developed."

Dave's Notes:
This two photos could be chemical stains, but why was only one print on each roll affected and also why the same subject matter in each photo? The skeptical conclusion would be to dismiss both photos, but what if. . .
