Going Solo as a Ghost Hunter

I recommended going solo for new ghost researchers. I got an email from Derrick, one IGHS member, who wrote of his terrible experience with groups. I will quote a portion of his email. “In the past, I have belonged to many groups and they all started out as, or degenerated into, cliquish social clubs that were more concerned with gratifying egos and reinforcing the often skewed and heavily biased views of the "leadership." My negative experiences have led me to switch groups over and over again until I just up and decided to go it alone one day. While investigating with groups (who I choose not to name out of respect for their privacy), I have witnessed tons of negative behaviors such as taunting the dead, condemning them to hell, and so on. I have always kept a positive attitude during investigations and shown reverence to the spirits, and not so coincidently,”
Going solo is not a sin compared to going with an egotistical group that likes to express behavior patterns that are negative toward the dead. To me this is the greater sin. Why should you have to deal with inflated egos and spoiled children syndrome when you can approach ghost hunting in a positive fruitful manner. You can always find another person to go with you and together you achieve more success than any ego groups or clubs.
Ghost hunting or ghost research is not about ego or pride, but about knowledge and understanding. Apparently, many groups have not understood this message and are foaming at the mouth for the glory and fame as kind of the dong heap. They step on others to achieve their success, they slander those who they feel are a threat to their mountaintop, or target them with hate mail. Why do they feel so threatened? Perhaps it is an inferiority complex, they must continue to beat their chest expressing their male testosterone, else they feel deflated. They need a psychological fix, a Hollywood hype to feel like they are important.
Ghost hunting is about understanding life after death and why some spirits remain earth bound. Ghosts are not evil or demonic, but people without physical bodies. They retain their emotions, their intelligences, and their personalities. They will reflect their behavior as they did when alive. Ghost hunting is an opportunity to discover the mysteries that are beyond the grave. Investigators should not have to endure inflated egos and those who want to play king of the mountain.
