Haunted Grave
|
This photo was submitted by Tim Schroeder, Sitka, Alaska at attimlance@ptialaska.net
Tim said, "I took this picture in the middle of the day, under the cover of the rain forest foliage. The stone wall surrounds a grave. This "fog" is the mystery. I did not see it when I took the picture, and there was no fog on the mountain. The picture was taken with a digital camera, so there is no foggy film. Additionally, the camera lens was not fogged over. The pictures taken immediately before and after this one show no fog."
"At the suggestion of friends in Juneau, I have decided to learn more
about the person buried here. This has turned out to be more difficult
than I originally anticipated. What I DO know are the simple facts I
learned from this tombstone. I know his name was George Ros(s)... The
final "s" was half chipped off, and it is possible other letters went
with it. I know he died on July 3, 1937, at the age of 58."
"A visit to the local public library revealed little else. There was no
newspaper at that time, so there was no obituary. His name did not show
up in any of the half dozen Sitka books I checked into, so he may not
have been a prominent personage."
