This photo were taken by IGHS & Inner Circle Cofounder Rev Sharon Gill of ghostweb@ghostweb.com.
This spirit matter shaped like a vortex was captured on film during our second investigation of Sellers Arts & Crafts store in Scappoose, Oregon by Rev Sharon Gill and Dave Oester. Employee's of Sellers reportedly observed an ectoplasmic vapor in the second floor warehouse. It is interesting to note that this building has had a long history of reported ghost sightings that span over fifty years!
After completing our investigation of the store downstairs, we walked up the stairs to the apartment over the store. Dave walked up the stairs scanning with his EMF meter, checking for energy anomalies while Sharon followed behind him with her array of cameras. At the landing at the top of the stairs, Dave turns to the right and enters the open room which is the owner's apartment. Sharon was still walking up the stairs as Dave disappears around the corner.
Sharon reaches the landing and feels an eerie sensation on the back of her neck. She had the impression that someone was directly behind her so she turned and snapped a picture of an empty staircase. The camera strap was around her wrist to prevent the camera from falling should it be dropped.
Nothing was behind her even though she could feel the presence of something. We investigated the apartment and found nothing. We send the film off for developing and printing. A few days later we got our film back and discovered the swirling energy vortex that had followed Sharon up the stairs. The shadow cast by the swirling energy vortex represents some kind of spirit substance that has density sufficient to reflect light.
The National Examiner has published this photograph and a 3/4 page article about Gill/Oester as ghost hunters in their October 15, 1996 edition. The story is entitled: Gotcha! Ghostbusters capture apparition on film.
Sellers Arts & Crafts is no longer in business. Another business is now located in the building. For more information about this ghostly vortex, contact one of the witnesses, Christie Verhoef at Krikt@webtv.net. The full story of the haunting of Sellers Arts & Crafts appears in Haunted Reality written by Gill & Oester.
Dave's Notes:
This was our very first ghostly anomaly captured on film. We coined the term 'Vortex' because it resembled a tornado. We now know that this spirit matter shaped vortex is actually an orb in motion leaving a contrail behind it as it moves upward. The orb apparently shot from the floor to the ceiling of the stairs and in the process the camera was not fast enough to freeze the orb in motion at 1/60 of second shutter speed. More information about orbs and vortices can be found in the Ghost Articles found in the Navigation Menu.
